Raffaele Pe è oggi il controtenore più richiesto, conteso da direttori, orchestre e gruppi non solo barocchi. Il suo repertorio spazia dai capolavori del Recitar Cantando all’opera del Settecento, e ancora più su, fino al Novecento di Benjamin Britten e di Arvo Pärt.
Collabora con musicisti del calibro di Jordi Savall, William Christie, John Eliot Gardiner, per citare solo i primi che hanno intuito le enormi potenzialità di questo cantante coinvolgendolo in progetti musicali importanti e internazionali.
Per sottrarsi alle frenesie del “mercato”, Raffaele Pe ha fondato un ensemble tutto suo, La Lira di Orfeo, un collettivo di musicisti, artisti e ricercatori accomunati dallo studio di un repertorio in continua riscoperta. La Lira di Orfeo si propone di presentare l’antico combinando meticolose ricerca storiche per una moderna esecuzione. Utilizzando le parole di Luciano Berio, Raffaele Pe&La Lira di Orfeo, aspirano a realizzare un “rendering” dell’essenza originale di questo repertorio, accordando tecniche passate con una sensibilità contemporanea.
A seguito del brillante debutto per Deutschland Radio Kultur alla Philharmonie di Berlino e delle presenze alla Accademia Filarmonica Romana, alla Società del Quartetto di Milano, al Festival MITO SettembreMusica e a Bologna Festival, La Lira di Orfeo è ormai riconosciuta come autorevole giovane voce italiana per l’interpretazione della musica vocale tra Sei e Settecento.
Dal dicembre 2015 è ensemble in residenza presso la Sala della Musica della Fondazione Maria Cosway di Lodi, nell’intento di valorizzare e tramandare l’eredità culturale e musicale di Maria Hadfield Cosway (1760-1838) in una prospettiva internazionale.
Nel 2014, l’ensemble ha inciso per Glossa il suo primo album “The Medici Castrato”, seguito nel 2018 da “Alessandro Scarlatti. Concerti Sacri”, pubblicato da Amadeus, e nel 2019 da “Giulio Cesare. A baroque Hero”, che ha ottenuto entusiastiche recensioni su tutte le principali testate specializzate a livello internazionale, nonché il prestigioso Premio Abbiati.
In questa stagione, Raffaele Pe&La Lira di Orfeo saranno in tournée con il programma dedicato a “Giulio Cesare” in Europa con esecuzioni anche a Londra (Wigmore Hall), Halle (Händel-Festspiele) e Malta (Valletta Baroque Festival).

Raffaele Pe is the most requested countertenor today, disputed by conductors, orchestras and ensembles not only from the Baroque circles. His repertoire ranges from the masterpieces of Recitar Cantando to the opera of the 18th century, and even higher, to the 20th century of Benjamin Britten and Arvo Pärt.
He collaborates with renowned musicians such as Jordi Savall, William Christie, John Eliot Gardiner to name just a few who acknowledged the exceptional talent and potential of this artist, constantly inviting him in taking part in important music projects internationally.
In order to escape the frenzies of the showbiz market, Raffaele Pe founded his own ensemble, La Lira di Orfeo, a collective of musicians, artists and researchers brought together by the common ethos of studying a repertoire in continuous rediscovery. La Lira di Orfeo aims to present the ancient repertoire by combining the meticulous historical research with a modern executive rendition. Using the words of Luciano Berio, Raffaele Pe&La Lira di Orfeo, aspire to achieve a "rendering" of the original essence of the ancient and baroque repertoire, according the past techniques to the contemporary sensibility.
Following the brilliant debut for Deutschland Radio Kultur at the Philharmonie in Berlin and the invitation at Bologna Festival, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Società del Quartetto di Milano, the MITO SettembreMusica Festival and at the Rheinvokal Festival of Frankfurt, La Lira di Orfeo is now acknowledged as an authoritative young Italian voice in the domain of the interpretation of vocal music between the XVII and XVIII centuries.
Since December 2015 Raffaele Pe and La Lira di Orfeo have been ensemble in residence at the Music Room of the Maria Cosway Foundation in Lodi, with the aim of enhancing and passing on the cultural and musical heritage of Maria Hadfield Cosway in a broad and international perspective.
In 2014, the ensemble recorded his first album “The Medici Castrato” for Glossa, followed in 2018 by another album dedicated to “Alessandro Scarlatti. Concerti Sacri” published by Amadeus, and in 2019 by “Giulio Cesare. A baroque Hero” for Glossa which has been received by enthusiastic reviews on all the main specialized magazines internationally, as well as being awarded the prestigious “Abbiati Prize” (the highestcritique recognition, awarded yearly).
In the present season, Raffaele Pe&La Lira di Orfeo will be on tour with the program dedicated to “Giulio Cesare” in Europe with date also in London (Wigmore Hall), Halle (Händel-Festspiele) and Malta (Valletta Baroque Festival).
